Beware Of Fake Before and After Microderm Photos

Microderma abrasion may sound good but you want to see results first hand, I get that. Sadly, not all plastic surgeries, dermatologists or spas publish pictures from before and after microdermabrasion to illustrate what results to expect. And if that weren't enough, some of the before/after pics that do exist are fake. There are several ways in which images of good microdermabrasion results deceive.

Some pics are simply retouched with a digital program like Photoshop. The skin is smeared to make the complexion smoother and the visible pores gone. These are easy to spot because in the after photo, the person is in exactly the same position as they are in the before photo. The only difference is how good the skin looks after the supposed 'microdermabrasion treatment'.

With other photos, fake results are not always so easy to spot. Many people have micro abrasion in conjunction (or after) other procedures such as laser resurfacing, collagen injections, etc. Any improvement attributed solely to micro dermabration is, in these cases, impossible to pinpoint.

Other images are even worse. The caption says "results after x microdermabrasions" but sometimes the person in the picture never had micro dermabrasion, but a completely different rejuvenation technique (usually more invasive, more expensive and, indeed, more effective).

Unfortunately, it's precisely these fake before and after pictures posted by unscrupulous websites that raise false hopes among women and men everywhere.

To help you with your search, I've put together a collection of links to microderm photo galleries on the Internet. Now, I cannot say how real the results in the after shots are but take them with a grain of salt and you should be fine.
