Even if the facial mask called Turnaround 15-Minute Facial from Clinique is not an at-home microdermabrasion product, I have decided to include its review on this website anyway, because I've noticed that many people interested in micro dermabrasion are tempted to try the Turnaround cream.
I believe the main reason for that is the Clinique presentation for this product, which says that the 15-Minute Facial "delivers all the radiance and smoothness of microdermabrasion - with significantly less irritation or stress". However, a quick look at the ingredient list reveals that Turnaround is a chemical peel facial mask and not a personal microderm abrasion product (it uses glucosamine and salicylic acid as exfoliating agents instead of micro crystals).
I haven't tried the product because it's a bit too expensive for me ($34 for no more than 10 uses), but my friend Donna who likes to invest in high-end cosmetics has used Turnaround for about two months. Her feedback and many online reviews have helped me write this review.
Donna bought the Clinique Turnaround cream at the mall for $35. The active ingredients in the formula are glucosamine (a natural substance that stimulates the skin renewal process) and salicylic acid (a well known exfoliator with anti-inflammatory properties). Furthermore, the chestnut extract in the cream acts as an anti-irritant and antioxidant, protecting the skin from external factors like the sun, dust and pollution.
The instructions written on the jar say to use the cream once a week, but Donna applied the cream every time she needed an instantly refreshed complexion, (before late business meetings or important dinners, for example).
This is how Donna used Clinique Turnaround Facial:
Donna says the mask works very well in making the skin brighter and softer, but doesn't do much against fine lines, enlarged pores and age spots. "For the first three weeks, I used the Clinique facial once a week, just like the instructions said, hoping it would make the wrinkles and sun spots on my cheeks and forehead fade. Unfortunately, after three uses, I saw no major improvement in my lines or my age spots. On the other hand, my face was brighter and smoother for a few hours after I applied the mask, but the glamour effect disappeared into thin air the following day", says Donna.
Most online reviews about this product confirm Donna's opinion: the Turnaround facial mask has immediate, but short term results on dull, tired skin. A positive aspect of the Clinique cream is that is causes no side effects, but on the other hand, most consumers say they were expecting more from such an expensive product designed by such a reputable brand.
