Aesthetic Technologies (ATI), the maker of the Parisian Peel microderm system, claim to be the leading manufacturer of microdermabrasion equipment for the medical industry. Produced and marketed since 1998, their machines have become popular, so much so that the company now claim that the brand name "Parisian Peel" is synonymous with the entire microdermabration process. It is true that many patients, aestheticians, dermatologists and even surgeons refer to micro derm abrasion as "parisian peel" but is it really that good?
But before continuing, you might want to read about the top three micro dermabrasion kits reviewed on this site: Youthful Essence, Dermanew and Neutrogena (also see my latest microdermabrasion kit review, the Personal Microderm System).
The cost of Parisian Peels systems is difficult to find out, because the manufacturer is reluctant to giving out an exact price unless they are convinced that you really intend to buy the machine. For the sake of this review, I found a second-hand Parisian Peel machine on eBay.
The starting bid for the used Parisian Peel machine was $13,000. It's actually a good thing that the price is so high that it's prohibitive, because buying and using a micro derm machine in the privacy of one's home without specialist advice is dangerous, to say the least.
Parisian Peel microabrasion machines are designed exclusively for medical use (surgeries, dermatology offices, etc). Since clients of dermatology clinics or beauty salons don't know the type of machine that has just been used to perform micro dermabrasion on their skin, we had difficulty finding consumer reviews.
Parisian Peel microdermabrasion works similarly to other professional machines:
Where the Parisian Peel is different to other microdermal abrasion machine is the improved lightweight, high-precision hand-held device designed to keep the professional's wrist in a neutral position to minimize fatigue. The other specific benefit of the Parisian Peel is the dehumidification system which helps prevent the appearance of clogs and keep crystals loose and free-flowing.
Parisian Peel results can be enhanced through a combined therapy of ultrasound and their own signature Satin C Serum.
Here are the four Parisian Peel system models produced and sold to the medical industry:
These systems are the original Parisian Peel models, with new ergonomic hand-piece, re-engineered to use disposable waste canisters, new tubing, and new filters.
Parisian Peel also sells a signature skin care line. The top of the line product is the SATIN C Lipid Soluble Vitamin C serum. It is designed to be administered after a Parisian Peel micro derma brasion treatment or as separate corrective therapy.
The other products in the Parisian Peel skin care line are:

A: Chemical peels involve applying a mild acid solution to the skin that exfoliates the upper layers of the skin, while Microdem abrasion is a mechanical peel that uses a stream of crystals (or a diamond tip wand) and suction to gently exfoliate the skin. Deeper chemical peels can be more effective than micrdermabrasion treatment. because they exfoliate a thicker layer of skin, thus being able to remove deeper skin imperfections. On the other hand, a deep chemical peel requires 14 days downtime and involves serious side effects like flaking, redness and swelling.
A: By removing the top layer of skin, microdermbrasion evens out skin texture and helps fade superficial face scars. Deeper face scarring needs more invasive non-surgical techniques, like deep chemical peeling or laser facial resurfacing.
A: The Self microderma abrasion cream from Ponds works for some people and doesn't work for others. There are many happy customers who say that Ponds creams does make their face feel smother and look young. On the other hand, there are some unhappy people who say the kit is either too harsh, causing them skin irritation and breakouts, or not very effective in reducing superficial scars and fine wrinkles. The only way to find out if the kit is effective for you is to try to obtain a free sample and test the formula on your skin.
A: This procedure exfoliates the top layer of skin which consists of dead skin cells. Microdermabasion machine stimulates collagen production, essential to a beautiful skin complexion and also evens out skin texture and tone.
A: Microdermabarasion system is effective on fine lines. It evens out skin texture through abrasion of the top layer of skin. The effect is a reduction or even total removal of fine lines.
A: Redness following microdermabasion fades in a few hours after the procedure.
A: Over The Counter microdermal abrasion kits can be used on your neck as long as it's especially formulated as a face micodermabrasion kit (unless otherwise stated). Using a body cosmetic microderm abrasion product on your neck may be too harsh and result in irritation. Clinic microderm abrasion is suitable for use on the neck.
A: You only need three products after micro abrasion treatment: a mild cleanser to remove all micro crystals, a rich moisturizer across the treated area and generous application of sunscreen, for at least a month after treatment. If you want to speed up the recovery process, you need copper based lotions (to heal the skin), Vitamin A, C and E formulas (to increase skin elasticity) and thermal water absorbing cloths (to calm down any swellings or itchiness).
A: By removing the top layer of the skin, office micrdermabrasion diminishes or even removes superficial acne scars. Deeper acne scars require a more invasive procedure, like deep chemical peeling or laser resurfacing.
A: Microdemabrasion is safe for young people of all skin types but most doctors recommend it for patients aged 14 and older, mainly because they want to make sure that all major hormonal changes are over and the results of the procedure are as good as they can be.
